Art residencies can be applied for on a continuing basis through to November, with no fixed deadline. The normal period is 2-4 weeks, though extensions are possible. Free accommodation is provided either in the Writers/Artists Cabin, The Stables cottage, the Airstream, the Barn (shared) or camping. Communal vegetarian meals may be available. Small stipend possible but not guaranteed. The goal of the residency program is to create a vibrant changing artistic community, and to create pieces that can help establish the reputation of Yellow Bird, currently in its gestation phase. While the barn (Wild Goat Gallery I) offers opportunities for indoor pieces and installations, outdoor pieces are most easily accommodated (Wild Goat Gallery II) for permanent display. The expectation is that each resident artist will leave behind at least one piece, to be featured on the online Wild Goat Gallery. And offer an end-of-residency event. Other outdoor pieces (such as large sculptures), whether made here or not, may be offered for sale in Wild Goat Gallery II.   All media supported, including film, photography, sound art, mixed media etc. Materials available: wood, stone, earth, local scrap yard. We will pay reasonable materials costs. Tools available: expanding workshop with various hand and power tools, esp. saws. Basic studio space. Applicants with construction and/or landscaping/gardening skills may also be considered if there is space. Yellow Bird is 2 miles from the nearest town (Woodbury), which even boasts an Arts Center! Having your own transport is a real plus. Previous artists-in-residence have given workshops at the Vanderbilt Art Department (Nashville).
